Mechanical Design Engineer

Contract Design Engineer (SolidWorks)
Bradford, North Yorkshire (3–4 days on-site, remainder WFH)
6 months initially
Outside IR35
ASAP start 

Role & Responsibilities

• Re-create legacy product drawings and generate new 3D models and 2D technical drawings using SolidWorks.
• Develop full specification documentation for existing products (e.g., shower stools, rehab equipment).
• Produce assembly instructions and product manuals, including exploded views and rendered images.
• Create and document jig/fixture drawings to ensure complete manufacturing records
• Support the transition of acquired products into UK manufacturing facility.
• Assist with design and documentation of additional product lines as the project evolves.

Skills & Experience

• Strong background in tubing design and manufacturing-focused engineering.
• Experience with Metal Fabrication processes
• Hands-on experience with DFM principles and understanding of jig/fixture design.
• Not purely a product designer — must be familiar with manufacturing environments and practical production considerations.
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied, evolving workload.
• Comfortable producing technical documentation and manuals from scratch.
