A leading aerospace organisation is seeking a Systems Engineer to support certified design and development programmes. This role sits within a specialist engineering quality function, ensuring complex aerospace systems meet stringent regulatory and customer requirements throughout the full product lifecycle. You will play a key role in supporting development projects from concept through verification and certification, working closely with software, hardware and systems engineering teams to ensure compliance with aerospace standards and robust design assurance processes.

Systems Engineer
Key Responsibilities
  • Support certified aerospace development projects across the full product lifecycle, ensuring compliance with ARP4754, DO-178C, DO-254 and associated standards.
  • Review and approve design and development documentation, ensuring adherence to quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Audit and assess project lifecycle data, identifying risks, errors or non-conformances in software and systems implementation.
  • Support code reviews, verification activities and configuration control processes for airborne software and flight instrumentation systems.
  • Act as a key interface between engineering, suppliers and stakeholders to ensure robust design assurance and successful certification outcomes.
Systems Engineer
Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications
  • Background in aerospace systems, software, or design assurance within a regulated environment.
  • Understanding of certified development lifecycles and aerospace standards such as ARP4754A, DO-178C and/or DO-254 is desirable.
  • Experience reviewing technical documentation and participating in design reviews or compliance audits.
  • Strong analytical mindset — able to logically assess evidence, process flow and implementation detail.
  • Comfortable working closely with engineering teams and holding your own in technical discussions.
  • Experience with tools such as MATLAB, SCADA or similar software-based development environments would be advantageous.
