We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join a leading precision engineering manufacturer supplying complex components into the aerospace and defence sectors. Working within a modern, fast-paced production environment, you will be responsible for ensuring that all parts meet strict customer and industry requirements. We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join a leading precision engineering manufacturer supplying complex components into the aerospace and defence sectors. Working within a modern, fast-paced production environment, you will be responsible for ensuring that all parts meet strict customer and industry requirements. This hands-on role is key to maintaining product integrity and supporting the company’s ongoing commitment to high standards, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out first-off, in-process, and final inspections on precision-machined aerospace components.
- Verify dimensional accuracy using a variety of precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, verniers, height gauges, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
- Conduct CMM inspections and interpret data to confirm compliance to engineering drawings and geometric tolerances (training available if required).
- Complete and maintain inspection reports, including FAIRs, ISIRs, and other quality documentation in line with AS9102 requirements.
- Identify, report, and manage non-conformances, supporting root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
- Work collaboratively with production, engineering, and quality teams to drive improvements in manufacturing processes and part conformity.
- Support compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards through accurate record-keeping and participation in internal audits.
- Promote a Right First Time culture across the shop floor.
- Proven experience as a Quality Inspector within aerospace, precision engineering, or a similar high-tolerance manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficient in the use of manual measuring tools; CMM experience desirable.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001 / AS9100).
- Excellent attention to detail and methodical approach to inspection activities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Practical problem-solving ability and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
