We are working with a growing engineering organisation specialising in the maintenance, overhaul, and optimisation of Combined Heat & Power (CHP) systems across the UK. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to appoint an experienced CHP Overhaul Engineer to join their team based in he North West.

This is a hands-on mechanical role focused on major engine overhauls, rebuilds, and strip-downs of CHP gas engines. You will play a key role in maintaining the reliability and performance of critical power generation assets, working both in the workshop and on customer sites.
You will be responsible for carrying out planned overhaul works, diagnosing mechanical issues, and ensuring engines are rebuilt to manufacturer standards to maximise uptime and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out full mechanical overhauls and rebuilds on CHP gas engines
  • Perform major inspections, strip-downs, and reassembly in line with manufacturer specifications
  • Replace and refurbish key components such as pistons, liners, cylinder heads, and turbochargers
  • Support fault finding and troubleshooting of complex mechanical issues
  • Work with planning and engineering teams to prepare for scheduled overhaul projects
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with site permit and safety systems
  • Maintain accurate service documentation and reporting
  • Travel to client sites when required to support major overhaul projects
About You
  • Strong mechanical engineering background with experience working on large gas engines or power generation equipment
  • Previous experience carrying out CHP overhauls, major services, or engine rebuilds
  • Experience working with engines such as MTU, MAN, MWM, Jenbacher, or Liebherr would be advantageous
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems including engine internals, fuel systems, cooling, and exhaust systems
  • Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, or equivalent)
  • Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel to client sites when required
  • Strong problem-solving ability with a focus on quality and safety
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
This is an excellent opportunity to join a technically focused organisation operating within the growing CHP and decentralised energy sector, where you will play a key role in maintaining and extending the life cycle of critical energy infrastructure.
