Are you an experienced Operational Technician with a strong background in SCADA, PLCs, and industrial control systems? Do you enjoy working in the field and solving technical challenges across a variety of sites? If so, this opportunity could be ideal for you.

Our client, a well-established engineering company, is seeking an Operational Technician to join their team based in Hemel Hempstead. The successful candidate will play a key role in commissioning, maintaining, and supporting control systems across multiple sites throughout the UK.

Monday to Friday
Hemel Hempstead (with UK-wide travel)

Operational Technician (Field-Based)

Job Description

• Commission SCADA, PLC, and industrial control systems across various sites
• Carry out electrical wiring and modifications to SCADA/control panels in line with regulations
• Perform site surveys, inspections, and system assessments
• Troubleshoot and resolve faults within control systems and associated networks
• Support installation, testing, and maintenance of industrial systems
• Supervise subcontractors and ensure work is completed to required standards
• Plan and coordinate site activities, managing time and resources effectively
• Work with industrial networks and telecoms systems in high-hazard environments
• Travel across the UK, including regular overnight stays

Operational Technician (Field-Based)

Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications

• Electrical qualification with knowledge of IET Wiring Regulations
• Proven experience commissioning SCADA, PLCs, and industrial control systems
• Knowledge of industrial networks and telecommunications
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
• Experience supervising contractors and planning site work
• Comfortable with UK-wide travel and overnight stays
• Valid UK driving licence

Desirable

• CCNSG Safety Passport (or willingness to obtain)
• Emergency First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)
