Our client, an engineering company specialising in the oil and gas sector, is looking for a skilled and motivated Mechanical Manager to join their growing team. The successful candidate will bring extensive design experience, strong knowledge of design for manufacture principles, and the ability to manage or develop an engineering team. This role would suit an experienced manager or a Senior/ Principal Mechanical Design Engineer looking to progress into management.

Job Description

• Lead and manage the mechanical design function within the business
• Design mechanical components and systems for projects within the oil and gas sector
• Produce and review detailed engineering designs using Autodesk Inventor
• Ensure designs follow Design for Manufacture (DFM) principles to support efficient fabrication and production
• Work closely with fabrication and production teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to the engineering team
• Liaise with internal departments and clients to ensure project requirements and deadlines are met
• Support continuous improvement of design processes and engineering standards
• Occasionally travel to different project sites when required

Mechanical Manager

Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years’ experience working as a Mechanical Design Engineer
• Strong experience within a fabrication or manufacturing environment
• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor
• Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM)
• Previous team management experience, or a desire to step into management from a senior/principal engineering role
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Full UK driving license
• Willingness to travel occasionally to different sites
