Role: Mechanical Design Engineer

Hours: Day Shifts

Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Owen Daniels are recruiting on behalf of a leading engineering and manufacturing business in Coventry is recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer with specialist experience in rotating machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the mechanical design and development of precision-engineered rotating equipment, including motors, pumps, compressors, or gearbox assemblies.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings (preferably using SolidWorks).
• Conduct engineering hand calculations.
• Ensure designs meet relevant performance, cost, compliance, and manufacturing requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams across R&D, production, testing, and quality to deliver robust, manufacturable solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, FMEAs, and continuous improvement activities.

Candidate Profile:

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline.
• Experience in the design and development of rotating machinery or high-speed mechanical systems.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD and technical drawing creation (SolidWorks preferred).
• Demonstrated understanding of mechanical design theory, structural integrity, thermodynamics, and dynamics of rotating systems.
• Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards (API, ISO, ASME, etc.)
• Confident communicator with the ability to work collaboratively within the team. 

Location:
The role is based in Coventry and is commutable from Birmingham, Rugby, Leamington Spa, Nuneaton, Warwick, and surrounding areas.
