An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced EHS Specialist to join a busy engineering and manufacturing environment on a 12–18-month fixed term contract, providing maternity cover.
This is a hands-on position within a fast-paced operation where Health, Safety and Environmental performance is a key business priority. You will take an active role in maintaining and improving the site’s EHS standards, while supporting the wider business with compliance, risk management, problem solving and continuous improvement.
The role would suit an EHS professional who is comfortable working at pace, engaging with different areas of the business and taking ownership of issues from identification through to resolution.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver EHS strategy, analysis and action plans across the site, using performance data and structured problem solving to identify risks, resolve issues and support continuous improvement.
- Maintain and improve EHS management systems, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001, ensuring procedures, safe systems of work, risk assessments and supporting documentation are up to date and effective.
- Provide day-to-day EHS guidance to management and employees, ensuring legislative and corporate requirements are translated into practical and workable controls.
- Lead and support accident, incident and near-miss investigations, audits and corrective actions, applying Lean and continuous improvement principles to prevent recurrence.

Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications
You will have proven experience within an EHS role, ideally gained within an engineering, manufacturing or similarly regulated environment. You will need to be comfortable operating in a busy, hands-on environment and capable of managing competing priorities.
You will ideally have:
- NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma, or equivalent.
- Environmental qualification such as IEMA or IOSH would be advantageous.
- Experience working with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.
- Strong understanding of EHS legislation, risk management and compliance.
- Experience with incident investigations, risk assessments, audits and corrective action programmes.
- Experience supporting contractor management, change management and equipment/process-related EHS activity.
- Knowledge of Lean, A3 or structured problem-solving techniques.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence employees and managers at all levels.
- A proactive, practical and solutions-focused approach.
