Our client, a leading engineering and manufacturing business, is seeking an Engineering Buyer to join their team in Oxfordshire. The successful candidate will have a strong procurement background within engineering, excellent supplier management skills, and experience sourcing technical components to support production and business objectives.

Engineering Buyer
Job Description
• Source and procure engineered and technical components to support production requirements and project deadlines
• Manage supplier relationships, negotiate pricing, lead times, and contracts to achieve the best commercial outcomes
• Review engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications to ensure accurate purchasing decisions
• Monitor supplier performance, resolve supply issues, and work closely with engineering, production, and planning teams to maintain material availability
• Maintain accurate purchasing records using ERP/MRP systems and identify opportunities for cost reduction and continuous improvement

Essential Experience / Skills / Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
• Minimum 3 years' experience in procurement or buying of engineered or technical components within a manufacturing environment
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and technical specifications
• Proven negotiation, supplier management, and commercial awareness skills
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Infor, or Microsoft Dynamics, along with strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience within machine tools, automation, industrial equipment, aerospace, defence, or heavy engineering would be highly advantageous
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
