Automation Software Engineer Location: Southampton, near Southampton Airport / Eastleigh
We’re looking for an Automation Software Engineer to provide remote technical support for legacy control systems used by global engineering / manufacturing customers. You’ll diagnose EC&I and software faults, advise on upgrades, and support a small automation team delivering high-quality customer solutions.
Automation Software Engineer Essential Requirements / Experience:
· Strong EC&I and controls background
· PLC programming: Siemens TIA Portal & Step 7, Allen Bradley ControlLogix
· HMI experience (TIA / WinCC Flexible)
· Skilled in troubleshooting PLC, HMI, SCADA, and PC-based systems
· Customer-facing communication skills
· HNC/D + 5+ years’ experience
Automation Software Engineer Salary and Benefits:
· £52,000 – £59,500
· 25 days holiday + bank holidays
· 5% employer pension, income protection, death in service
· Optional private healthcare
· Office-based (hybrid considered)
Automation Software Engineer The Role:
· Remote fault-finding across electrical, controls, and software issues
· PLC/HMI/SCADA troubleshooting and support
· Provide upgrade advice and technical quotations
· Improve customer experience and system reliability
· Work within ISO 9001 standards
