As an Assistant Buyer, you will assist in sourcing and procuring materials, components, and services to support production, R&D, and operational needs. You’ll help manage supplier relationships, monitor performance, and play a vital role in ensuring supply continuity and cost-effectiveness. Reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager, you will actively contribute to cost-saving initiatives, delivery tracking, and database management.

Reporting directly to the Purchasing Manager, you will actively contribute to cost-saving initiatives, delivery tracking, and database management.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise purchase orders for stock, R&D, and ad hoc requirements.
- Monitor and expedite deliveries; resolve any supplier delivery issues.
- Maintain supplier performance data and report on quality, delivery, and pricing.
- Support stock takes and book in deliveries.
- Source and qualify alternative suppliers to prevent supply shortages.
- Maintain and update supplier and component records including pricing and specifications.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Relevant business, commercial, manufacturing, or engineering qualifications are advantageous.
- Solid understanding of purchasing, negotiation, and cost analysis within a manufacturing setting.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to engage with suppliers to negotiate price, quality, and delivery terms.
- Evidence of contributing to cost savings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and components is a plus.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings would be beneficial.
- Familiarity with MRP systems, especially SAGE 200 and/or SICON, is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
